Norqain Introduces Adventure Neverest GMT Models That Move Mountains

The Adventure NEVEREST collection grows with the addition of three GMT models and a range of bracelet or strap options – including a brand first: a vegan-certified rubber NATO strap ready for adventures at any altitude.

Following the launch of its impactful NEVEREST collection, NORQAIN presents three robust GMT models – the first GMT timepieces in the brand’s renowned Adventure line. Each one is fashioned from stainless steel and features the brand’s signature NORQAIN dial pattern admired by watch enthusiasts around the world; one variation has a striking all-black appearance with DLC finishing. The new creations are all equipped with the independent brand’s Manufacture Calibre NN20/2, produced in collaboration with movement manufacturer Kenissi.

These COSC-certified GMT timepieces with weekend-proof 70-hour power reserve and jumping hour feature do more than keep time in two time zones with absolute precision. They make a social impact as well. By purchasing a NORQAIN Adventure NEVEREST timepiece – a GMT model or a three-hand model launched in August 2021 – customers can help NORQAIN contribute to the Butterfly Help Project and change the lives of children in Nepal.

From the very beginning, mountain climbing has been a part of NORQAIN’s story – from the Swiss Alps in the logo to Mt. Everest, the inspiration behind the newest collection. The collection name captures the independent watchmaker’s adventurous spirit and its unending motivation to push the boundaries of the industry.

GMT timekeeping excellence at home and on the climb

The NEVEREST GMT models are adventure-ready with the ultra-robust NN20/2 Manufacture Calibre and sporty design. Two 41mm models in polished and satined stainless steel feature a black dial with the recognisable NORQAIN pattern and date window at 3 o’clock. Both have a steel bidirectional-rotating bezel with a ceramic ring. The time in a second time zone is easily legible with a 24-hour scale around the central GMT hand and X1 Superluminova on all indexes and hands. The sturdy crown protection enhances the watch’s robustness and the polished NORQAIN plate on the left side of the case, engraved with “NEVEREST”, can be personalised with a name, motto or date. The wearer can choose from two compelling design codes: royal blue or forest green. Both timepieces are available with a stainless steel bracelet (CHF 3,730.00), a fabric strap (CHF 3,530.00), or a black rubber NATO strap (CHF 3,590.00) produced by BIWI, a Swiss industry leader known for its innovative vegan-certified products.

Rugged design with ultra-tough Diamond-Like Carbon coating

The third variation of the Adventure NEVEREST GMT features DLC on the polished and satined stainless steel case, bidirectional-rotating bezel, lugs and screwed-down crown. The splash of sunset orange on the dial indicates the night-time hours of the 24-hour GMT scale and the central GMT hand has an orange tip. X1 Superluminova coats the indexes as well as the hand-applied and facetted hands, for optimal legibility at any time of the day. This 41mm model is presented on a DLC stainless steel bracelet (CHF 4,240.00), flex fabric strap (CHF 3,870.00), or striped rubber NATO strap (CHF 3,950.00). This is the first NATO strap in NORQAIN’s entire collection and it is made with robust water-resistant, vegan-certified rubber. The wearer can add a unique detail to the watch by engraving the DLC-coated NORQAIN plate with something that reminds them of their greatest achievement.

The NORQAIN NN20/2 Manufacture Calibre

NORQAIN has always been dedicated to creating timepieces that inspire wearers to live their life, their way. The robust and high-precision NN20/2 GMT calibre, developed in partnership with mechanical movement manufacturer Kenissi, is COSC-certified and “weekend-proof” with impressive 70-hour power reserve. The sturdy construction features a traversing bridge with two-point fixation to ensure that the timekeeping performance will not be hindered by powerful activity. The GMT movement boasts a jumping hour feature to easily set the local time and change the date forward or backward at any time of the day without losing a second. Affirming the exclusivity of the movements are the unique NORQAIN decorations visible through the transparent caseback such as the golden “double-N” NORQAIN logo, symbolising the Swiss Alps, on the oscillating weight and “Adventure – Freedom – Independence”, the brand’s core values and NORQAIN collection names, engraved on the bridge. The collaboration with Kenissi helped NORQAIN establish itself as a distinctive brand in the Swiss watch industry and showed that it is taking steps to ensure its long-term independence while offering customers timekeeping quality that exceeds industry standards. Underscoring the quality of these calibres is NORQAIN’s four-year international warranty, which can be extended to five years when the customer joins the NORQAINER Club within one month of their purchase.

Helping children rise to the top

10% of the earnings of NEVEREST sales will be donated to the Butterfly Help Project. This organisation, created by Norbu Sherpa and Andrea Sherpa-Zimmermann of Wild Yak Expeditions, helps families of Sherpas who have lost their lives in the Himalayan mountains and give their children access to education. Andrea Sherpa-Zimmermann from Switzerland and Norbu Sherpa, who has successfully climbed Mt. Everest seven times and has earned the title of Sirdar, met in 2011 when Andrea attempted to summit Cho Oyu with Norbu leading the way. They founded Wild Yak Expeditions in 2014 and were married two years later in 2016, when Andrea also conquered Mt. Everest. With Wild Yak Expeditions, Norbu and Andrea not only want to make the dreams of mountaineers and adventurous travellers come true; they also want to give something back to Nepal’s people, who may not have the same chances in life. They believe that education leads the way to opportunity, which is why Andrea and Norbu founded the Butterfly Help Project.

NORQAIN shares this belief and has committed to sending 50 children to school in 2021 and supporting them in the coming years. With earnings from the sales of NEVEREST watches, the independent brand will support more children in need through the Butterfly Help Project. The financial aid they receive through the sales of NEVEREST watches will pay for school fees, classroom material, books, uniforms, and athletic equipment.
